Daddy Long Legs Dominates Autumn Regatta Racing was tight over the weekend at Mackay Yacht Club's RIB Insurance Autumn Regatta.
Saturday's racing proved that the trophy was up for grabs by anyone. The testing course proved that is was not luck, but tactics that would make the big gains around the race track. Saturday's results saw Daddy Long Legs taking first place, with Slick Willey in second and Mystery a close third.
Sunday's racing consisted of two races and a fleet of 11 boats. The smaller, lighter boats within the fleet found themselves snapping at the stern of their larger competitors. Some of the local navigational marks had moved due to the recent Cyclone Ului which caused havoc around the race track, with some yachts trying to cut the course too fine and coming to a grinding halt on Dangerous Reef. Sunday's first race was taken out by Daddy Long Legs, with Upmarket in second and Guided Missile in third. The second race resulted in Guided Missile first, Daddy Long Legs second and Trinket third.
The overall results for the RIB Insurance Autumn Regatta were: 1st - Daddy Long Legs (Jim Garner) 2nd - Guided Missile (John Rae) 3rd - Trapdoor (Wayne Halliwell)
