Club History
| 1975 |
The Cruising Yacht Club of Mackay (CYCM) obtained a lease from the Port Authority on a piece of harbour land behind Mulherin Park to build a clubhouse. A building was secured from UTAH Mining, and Reg Crann of Gold Seal Homes helped convert the building into a clubhouse. |

The first Big-Buoy Championship Sailing Series sponsored by Tick-Tock Jewelers was held. |
| 1976 |
The first Whitsunday Offshore Yachting Racing Circuit (WOYRC) was held. The WOYRC series is a multi-day sailing event where yachts race between Airlie Beach/Hamilton Island, Mackay & Bowen. |
| 1980 |
The CYCM Trailer Boat Park opened. |
| 1988 |
Mackay hosted the Tall Ships. |
| 1992 |
The Sailing Club clubhouse was destroyed by fire. |
| 1996 |
Heads of Agreement signed with Port Binnli, with Mackay Yacht Club featuring in the new harbour development project. |
| 1999 |
Mackay Yacht Club purchased land in the harbour precinct. |
| 2002 |
The old MYC clubhouse was closed and the new waterfront clubhouse, designed by Bryan Hudson, was opened. |
